Dr. Maksym Vasin has been involved in human rights activities since 2001. He leads advocacy campaigns to protect religious freedom nationally and internationally.
Dr. Vasin has extensive experience in developing religious legislation and state policy, facilitating multi-faith dialogue and church-state cooperation, which he gained during 16 years as Executive Director at the Institute for Religious Freedom (Ukraine).
He has also worked in Ukraine as a trainer on human rights and religious freedom in projects of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, and as an expert for the United Nations, the Council of Europe, and other international organizations.
In 2019, Dr. Maksym Vasin completed the Advance Program on Religion and the Rule of Law at the University of Oxford (United Kingdom). He became a member of the International Center for Law and Religion Studies (ICLARS) and the Religious Liberty Partnership (RLP).
In 2021, Dr. Vasin received his doctorate in law from the National Aviation University in Kyiv. His recent academic publications have focused on the peacebuilding role of religious organizations in global conflicts and on the impact of the Russian invasion on faith-based communities in Ukraine.
