On January 15, 2025, the Verkhovna Rada registered a draft resolution (registration No. 12412) authored by D. Arakhamia, I. Krulko, M. Tsymbalyuk, H. Tretyakova, Y. Kravchuk, and others. The resolution proposes the establishment of a National Day of Prayer in Ukraine, to be celebrated annually on February 24.

The draft resolution includes several instructions:

- The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine is to hold a session on the National Day of Prayer, which should commence with performing the spiritual anthem of Ukraine, “God the Great One.”

- The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine is to develop a comprehensive plan for celebrating the National Day of Prayer at the state level within three months of the resolution's adoption, involving representatives from the Ukrainian Council of Churches and Religious Organizations.

- The regional and Kyiv city state administrations are to ensure the preparation and implementation of measures to celebrate the National Day of Prayer.

The adoption of this draft resolution is justified by its potential to preserve Ukraine's spiritual heritage, enhance the patriotic spirit, and unify society in a collective prayer for victory and territorial integrity. The Explanatory Note to the draft resolution cites examples from the historical experiences of other countries and peoples.

During its meeting on January 16, 2025, the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Humanitarian and Information Policy reviewed the draft resolution (registration No. 12412, dated January 15, 2025) submitted by MP of Ukraine D. Arakhamia and other deputies. The committee recommended that the Verkhovna Rada include this resolution in the agenda of the session of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine of the ninth convocation and adopt it in principle and as a whole.

On January 9, 2025, the same committee considered two legislative initiatives to establish a National Day of Prayer: registration No. 12336 (authored by D. Arakhamia, I. Krulko, Y. Tymoshenko, O. Vasyuk, and others) and registration No. 12336-1 (authored by H. Tretyakova).
