On June 19, 2025, a meeting took place in Kyiv between the Ukrainian Council of Churches and Religious Organizations (UCCRO) and the Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine, Lieutenant General Yevhen Moisiuk.
During the meeting, the parties discussed current issues related to the further development of military chaplaincy in the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other military formations. They emphasized the importance of the work carried out by mobile interfaith groups in providing spiritual support to service members and their families. The discussion also touched upon certain aspects of the implementation of Government Resolution No. 76, “Some Issues of Implementing Provisions of the Law of Ukraine ‘On Mobilization Training and Mobilization’ Regarding the Deferment of Conscription for the Period of Mobilization and Martial Law.” Both sides highlighted the need to continue dialogue to resolve challenges that arise in the context of Ukraine’s defense against Russian military aggression.
The UCCRO delegation meeting with Deputy Minister of Defense Lieutenant General Yevhen Moisiuk included: UCCRO Chair and Head of the Ukrainian Evangelical Baptist Union, Bishop Valerii Antoniuk; Major Archbishop of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, Sviatoslav Shevchuk; Head of the Synodal Department for Military Chaplaincy of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine, Metropolitan Ioan (Yaremenko); Roman Catholic in Ukraine Bishop Vitalii Kryvytskyi; Senior Bishop of the Ukrainian Pentecostal Church, Anatoliy Kozachok; Bishop of the Ukrainian Evangelical Church, Oleksandr Zaitsev; the Head of the Ukrainian Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church, Bishop Marcos Hovhannisyan; the Grand Mufti of Crimea (RAMU), Ayder Rustamov; and other representatives of churches and religious organizations, as well as representatives of relevant departments of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.
