APPEAL
of the Ukrainian Council of Churches and Religious Organizations
to religious leaders, clergy, religious communities, and believers all around the world
Dear religious leaders and spiritual guides!
Dear brothers and sisters!
We, the members of the Ukrainian Council of Churches and Religious Organizations — an interdenominational and interreligious association that represents 95% of the religious community of Ukraine — appeal to you with a heartfelt call to support the initiative of holding a World Prayer for Ukraine on August 24, 2025.
This interfaith spiritual initiative will take place on the day when Ukraine, during ongoing Russian military aggression, will celebrate the 34th Independence Day.
Millions of people in Ukraine continue to suffer today from the war caused by the armed aggression of the Russian Federation. In this time of trials, we need not only political and humanitarian support but also spiritual solidarity — through prayer s, compassion, and fraternal participation.
The purpose of this initiative is to unite believers around the world in a common prayerful appeal to the Almighty asking for:
• the end to the war and suffering;
• the protection of innocents and the preservation of human life;
• the establishment of a just peace;
• the restoration of truth, freedom and dignity.
We ask you, on August 24, 2025 (or on the nearest worship day to this date), in your churches and other places of prayer, in accordance with your religious tradition, to appeal to your parishioners for the importance of spiritual solidarity with those who suffer and to offer a special prayer for Ukraine and the Ukrainian people.
The initiative of carrying out the World Prayer for Ukraine is supported by the President of Ukraine as well as religious leaders of the churches and religious organizations of Ukraine.
Necessary information and materials for the prayer will be available at: www.prayforukraine.org.ua
May the merciful God grant your people peace and blessings.
Kyiv, July 24, 2025
