On the morning of October 11, 2025, the Russian Federation carried out an airstrike using a 250-kg aerial bomb (KAB-250) on the grounds of the Orthodox Church of St. Job of Pochaiv in the city of Kostyantynivka, Donetsk region. The strike killed two civilians, injured four others, and damaged the church’s façade. The church belongs to the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC).

Since February 2022, Russian forces have destroyed or damaged more than 670 places of worship belonging to various denominations across Ukraine, and dozens of clergy members have been killed.

Earlier, on the morning of September 28, 2025, shortly before a Sunday service, the Russian Federation struck the territory of the Protestant Evangelical Church “Spasinnya” (“Salvation”) in Kyiv region with a Shahed-type drone. By a fortunate coincidence, no civilians present on the church grounds at the time were injured. That same day, Russian attacks damaged three houses of worship in different regions of Ukraine.
